what would be involved in converting the 2.7T to run on E85?

new injectors - which you'd want to do with the fueling in a stage 3 conversion anyway?
new programming, again you'd need this in a stage 3 conversion too?
what else is needed? Any reasons not to convert to allow for it when taking on a stage 3 setup anyway?
No real plans here, just more curious than anything.

I have no idea...but is it advisable?
You may get into the detonation and Octane issues with this one. Most likly a specific ECU program will need to be written to accomodate the fuel's charactaristics.

probably would need new programming, but I need that with stage 3 fueling hanges anyway
and at this altitude cars with custom programming tend to do better performance wise. so maybe it would be just a different custom program?
I really don't know. just read a little more and looks like maybe new fuel pump and lines could be required too. that is starting to look more expensive...

Nope Audi states E15 is the highest ethanol content that the fuel
system is compatible with. Now replace the lines, fittings and pump, and maybe injectors(I
would have to find out about their compatibilty) and you're good to go. Replace your water injection system with pure methanol, run 87-89 octane, tune appropriately and I think the problem is solved. Don't expect E85 to ever be cheaper than gas, once the subsidizing is cut off.ConAgra, will become the new Exxon. And expect corn and many other agro crops to skyrocket as well. Currently due to our climate, it takes about 1.2 gals of oil to produce 1 gal of ethanol. Sugarcane is the best crop for E production, unfortunately, very little of our croplands can grow it.In the short term diesel is the future, with varying levels of Hybrids, electric, alternative fuel, and fuel cells making up the difference. And unless BILLIONS are spent on the electric power grid, large scale electrics are a non-starter, the power grid cannot support them. It also only transfers the emissions problem from the consumer to the power generators. The electrons have to come from somewhere, either nuclear, (try getting a permit to build a reactor), natural gas, (which the US imports over half of it's current requirements), oil(hmm, that'll sure cut down on our dependance)or Coal, (yeah the Sierra Club'll jump on board that one).
