Default What's that noise?

Recently I've been hearing a faint, high pitched sound, like a beep or electronic tone or hum (can't exactly describe), coming (I think) from the rear of the car on the driver's side. The noise doesn't occur when the car is at rest, but I get it when I hit the throttle or when the transmission shifts gears. If anyone has any idea what this is I'd love to hear. My 40K service is due soon and I still have CPO coverage. My experience with the dealerships here in NYC has been that only once the car is out of warranty do they magically find problems with the car. Until then, they tend not to find problems, so I'd love to point them in the right direction.

Many thanks.

Default NYC Dealer's service?

While I don't know the sound I'd go to Riverside in NJ or to Anchor in Lynbrook. Stay away from ZumBAHch.

Totally agree about Zumbach -- I have had consistently awful experiences with them. They charge a fortune to do minor work and never seem to find things that are covered by warranty. Unfortunately I've had the same experience with the Audi shop in Bay Ridge. Very frustrating.

No one will suggest them on the NY/NJ board. I work in NY llive on LI, Anchor is my dealer, but now that I'm after warranty, I have an at home indy who has a lift out on LI or fir MOD/big stuff Its KMD(the best) in Westwood, NJ, soon to be in Mountanside, NJ.

Default Can't help w/ the nosie but second Paul's comments on Riverside

I've had good experience there. Talk to Brian, he's very patient w/ customers. If you can give him some time with the car, he can usually troubleshoot for you. Main problem with Zumbach is they have no parking, so cars need to be in and out in a day, if they don't find aproblem in 10 minutes than it must not exist -- terrible.

The other problem with Zumbach is that I think they find ways not to cover things through the warranty and then nickel and dime you on everything else they possibly can. In other words, it's all about maximizing the amount you pay and nothing else.
