There was another EA charger another 50 miles on the route that I would likely hit on the way back with pretty much the same makeup. Two questions. Does the e-tron charge any faster on the 350kw versus the 150kw (I think the answer is no, but not sure). Obviously, if it's not, no sense using the 350kw and paying the extra charge for it...but, if it is faster, anyone compare the charging speeds between the two?
Just to be clear, if you use the 350kW or the 150kW unit, the cost is the same. With the e-tron, you will pay based on the 1-150kW rate using either 150kW or 350kW charger.

That makes sense. So you only pay at the rate your vehicle charges, not the rate of the charging source then, right?

Correct. 150kW rate in the case of the e-tron for the entire session.

The Electrify America app looks to now be available on the apple app store. I'm not sure when it launched but I had checked several weeks back and it wasn't there. Has anyone gone ahead and created an Electrify America account or no need because we all can use our 1000KWh allotment before needing an account? I can't see what additional logic is available past account creation but it appears it is limited to finding closest stations and paying through the app.

On a related note, just seeing this article today so pondering whether I should go ahead and create an account for any reason or just wait until the allotment runs out:

I haven't used a station yet so for all I know it prompts you to create an account during first use?

Continuing research on the electrify america site (https://www.electrifyamerica.com/faqs). Defintely looks like account is optional:

Why should I become an Electrify America member?
Electrify America Pass and Pass+ members have access to the Electrify America mobile app and web portal, which enables them to
  • See real-time availability of chargers before arriving at a station
  • Add favorite stations for faster searching and navigation
  • Receive notifications when a charger becomes available
  • Set state of charge, cost, or time notifications for a charging session (swipe to start sessions only)
  • Start charging sessions using a smartphone (no more digging around for a credit card)
  • Track your vehicle’s charge status if you’re away from it
  • Review charging and billing history

Until you've used up your 1000kwh credit, the EA app is optional and you can just use the MyAudi app to start the charging session.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but I assume you still get the free charging when you lease instead of buy?

Tested out the EA Charger in Pleasanton today. Was pretty slow to get charging but once it started the charging was extremely quick. I claimed my credits but it was a little confusing as the system was still treating it like a normal charged session. I didn’t enter any payment info yet so drove away with no issue.

I’m assuming the idle time is therefore free until you’ve used up your 1000kw credit?
