Back in an Audi. And Where Do you Charge Away From Home?
I doubt you will notice the difference between 33 or 40 Amp charging.
I'll likely just add the 40A charger on a new circuit and keep the 16A charger next to it. Most days the 16A charger will be sufficient for my charging needs and I can recharge more slowly overnight (easier on the battery), saving the 40A charge for those occasional weekends when I'm in and out of the house more and might need a faster recharge.
40a will be cheaper on your power bill. The cooling fans and onboard charger have the same loss at 16a or 40a. Might as well minimize those losses by reducing the charging time with the 40a rate.

My initial impressions:
1. Google navigation sucks as far as EV planning. Plugshare showed me EA stations that Google couldn't. Before using Plugshare I almost drove the ICE vehicle tonight.
2. I used Plugshare to plan my trip, but used the EA app to pay for the charge. Plugshare wouldn't allow me to start the charge at the EA stations.
3. No waiting any the three EA stations I used tonight. One of them was located in the same mall as a Tesla supercharger station, the Tesla station had a line of cars waiting for a turn, a few cars deep. The EA station was me and a BMW that showed up as I was wrapping up, no waiting.
4. EA seems the way to go. EVGo and Chargepoint had slower stations on my route and EVGo had less stations and bad reviews. I used Chargepoint at work on my old EV, but it's not as practical for the Audi.
5. As fast as the charging is, it is expensive. A charge that I can do at home in about 5 hours for $4.80, cost me $27.78 at the EA charger, but it did charge me the same 48 kwh that I get at home in only 21 minutes.
I stopped to charge 3 times in 250 miles round trip. First was just to make sure I could charge close to home and not find out I had an issue 120 miles away. I also planned to have about 50 miles remaining, in case I wound up at a closed or broken station. Maybe overkill, but it worked out well as far as getting out to stretch and get a snack and drink, and for my peace of mind being a newb at the public charging. I do miss that aspect of the PHEV that I came from.
My 92 year-old mother also approves of the e-tron. It was her first ride in it since I picked it up a little over a week ago. She likes it better than my Cadillac ELR that the Audi replaced.
