This discussion made me curious, so I looked up the pricing and did the math and, based on EA and diesel prices in my area, going anywhere in the Etron now costs close to 2.5 times more than the same trip in the Q7 TDI and closer to 3x more than in a typical modern same-size gasoline SUV.

Solid!

You should charge at home. The last i checked in my area EA was charging about 4x my home electricity rate.

Why would you charge at EA? That's crazy expensive.

Charging at home at $0.13 per kwh works out to $0.06/mile.

A 30 mile per gallon gas burner is something like $0.30/mile at current gas prices that are extremely volatile.

I paid 0.50 per kwh on EA this weekend so $0.16 per mile (3.2 miles per kwh). Our atlas would be around $0.20 per mile (20 mpg), however I can charge at home for $0.05 per kwh (overnight EV rate here in VA) so local driving which accounts for 95% of our etron use comes out to ~$0.02 per mile vs $0,25 for atlas....so if you charge at home it is significantly cheaper than driving gas car, if you have to use public chargers then not so much. but don't forget you also have far less maintenance with EVs...

Mostly cause I can't take the house with me when I travel somewhere.

With my TDI, it's about $0.13/mile at cruise speed. EA here is $0.56/kWh. That's a very optimistic $0.31/mile at 80 mph cruise speed (assumed 100kWh for a full battery, incl. charging losses, and a generous 180 miles of range at 80 mph).

Well, I did not get my Audi etron because of the fuel money I would save. Even among EV's the etron is a big "electron guzzler".

I'm sorry, this thread is a bit all over the place, and I am not a current owner. Are the 93U9 recall Etrons the only ones getting the stickers and being asked not to charge above 80% (i.e., due to the lack of remote monitoring)?

Personally, I'm surprised this recall hasn't scared me away, especially knowing what all the Chevy Bolt owners went through.

Only the ones that cannot be monitored remotely. Not all 2022 models are covered and nothing after 2022..

Thank you.

I'm looking at an 02/22, which is under the recall.

neither did we but it is still way more efficient than your typical ICE SUV for 95% of use when charged at home....
