Replacing tires?
Has anyone tried the Michelin CrossClimate2 tires on the E Tron SUV? My Continentals are coming up for replacement with a little over 21,000 miles so I'm comparing.

I just noticed mine wearing down pretty bad on teh edges...so I'm monitoring this conversation...
I absolutely DREAD having to get new tires on this car. It drives smooth as butter now...
Almost every car I've ever had that drove even a little bit smooth ended up with a shimmy or a shake after getting tires..... I proved one time that they bent my wheels on a Nissan pick-up truck I had. I think that it happens quite often...bent stuff I mean...bent wheels, bent rotors, bent hubs...
Where do you folks get your tires installed?
I'd like to find someplace that actually cares to do the job slowly and carefully.

The Michelin website lists a 265/45R21 108V XL BSW for the CrossClimate 2 (has a NEW icon as well)…. Tire Rack has the CrossClimate 2, but not in 21”. Thanks barrydr47 for bringing up a possible option. The tread pattern is interesting. Looks noisy, but there are reviews on the Michelin site that say both noisy and quiet. If you find them and give them a try, please let us know what you think!

I have CrossClimate 2's on my Pacifica Hybrid. I had them put on in December just as the weather turned colder so couldn't do any type of milage comparison because cold weather affected range. The tires themself are fantastic. Excellent traction. Even though the tread pattern looks like it might be noisy, I found them to be very quiet. They *might* impact range a small amount due to tread pattern, but I couldn't quantify that due to the change in weather. When I researched the CrossClimate 2 for the 20" size for the e-tron, I discovered Michelin doesn't make them in the e-tron's 20" size (255/50 R20).
When it comes to getting new tires on the e-tron, I'll probably just get the same Goodyears that are on the vehicle. They are expensive (over $1200 for a set of 4 in 255/50R20), but they are quiet and I have found them to be a good all-around tire.

The original OEM Conti's are an "H" speed rated tire. The CrossClimate2 is a "V" speed rated tire so it will have a firmer sidewall and harsher ride (little bit). The CrossClimate2 gets great reviews on Tire Rack, the orginal OEM Conti's have horrible reviews. Funny, the Conti's have the foam but people still say their are loud. I am glad I have 20 inch wheels on my e-tron, there are a lot more tire options versus the 21's.

I may have rethought my thinking of going with the Michelin. I saw a review from a guy who tried them on his ICE SUV and he found that he lost about 2 MPG with the Michelin. I don't think I want to give up range for the possibility of more tread life, especially when my second set of tires will more than carry me to trade-in time. I will keep you posted, as I am waiting for my dealer to find out from Audi if they will give me an adjustment on the poor mileage I've gotten out of the original set.
