What happened to the “what did you pay” thread?
It would be good to hear from a Mod why this was deleted and what policy of the forum it violated as I could not find anything in the TOS or the “Rules” that would ban this discussion? Has anyone else looked to see if this thread was in violation?
Moderators - please explain if you will so we know what can and cannot be discussed.

I would argue that the minimal courtesy of an explanation is owed to us, in consideration for whatever benefit the owners derive from the free content we generate.
On a lease, or a buy, if that discount is then mitigated by dealer fees, mandatory charges, large rate markups...what good is the net discount getting you? The whole deal matters not just the negotiated purchase price

but given the frequency of these types of threads and lack of details, it seems many still fall for the Macy’s way of doing things.
I was just presented a “beat my deal” on Saturday, where the dealer used the pre-credit price as their “MSRP”. Both in print and on their website. That alone skewed things to appear as if the % discount and overall deal I was giving was much worse. In reality, it was far stronger. He took his new car home Saturday afternoon. Day in the life.
So for the level of income and success one achieves to be able to afford a luxury car of any kind, I often see people not understanding the totality of a deal. If it’s being presented in a confusing way, its how that dealer chooses to do things. That’s in and of itself, telling. I’ve been there as a buyer, and it’s extremely frustrating. Unfortunate, but true. At the same time, many buyers make things way more difficult for themselves than it needs be. Such is life.

$ 73.000 was the final price for new, plus a $ 799 processing fee (typical for northern virginia dealers) on a MSRP of $ 84,230. I keep the Federal Tax Rebate of $ 7,500, Mine was a buy, not a lease.
