Default bbk Caliper carrier failure

Fwiw here's a couple pics of the ecs passenger side caliper carrier that broke.
ECS sez I can buy new and send back old ones for credit, which I will do tomorrow, although I wonder what new ones cost. These were five years old. Could have been a LOT worse.

Default new RS2 brackets are ~170ea and do not regularly fail.

you will need new rotors @$60ea, and new RS2 brackets @$170 for a grand total of $230. small price to pay to make sure that your brakes don't fall off the car again. if I were ECS, I'd be overnighting you new brackets immediately upon receipt of those pictures. to my knowledge they have not even issued a notice to their current BBK customers, suggesting that they check their carrier brackets occasionally. that's grossly negligent, as far as i'm concerned.

careful with your links, that one failed due to a bolt backing out - different issue

Default Wow, that's pretty far gone...

<a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4s6/msgs/137230.phtml">BTDT with less gory results</a>. I switched to the RS2 bracket setup.

What is that made out of? Looks almost like a 3 piece laminante composite which is kind of a no-no.

Composite aint a great idea in high moisture areas either as there yield strenght decreaes by almost 20%. In the air craft industry we always do full on speciman tests after they sit in a 95% humidity chamber for a month!!

Seems to me I've seen RS2 brackets for 200-300 and they are steel, a good choice if you ask me.

ECS brackets regularly fail after a few years. RS2 brackets do not
