Default CD Changer has quit #2 - Help!!

The 10 disk changer on my treasured 95 S6 quit suddenly and I could not eject the magazine. With the help of advice here (thanks to all) I removed the changer, disassembled it and was able to remove the magazine. There were no stuck or damaged disks. I used contact cleaner on both connections but the changer still does not work nor can I eject the cartridge.

I have 12 v TO the interface but only 6v OUT of the interface!!!!

Can this be?? I just can't imagine the changer itself has been designed to operate on 6 v!!

What voltage have any of you found coming out of the interface?? If I have only 6v and the changer needs 12v, I may have found the problem.

Thans again, all

Default Look on Ebay. I've bought a few over the years...

Some work, some don't. But, they are cheap enough to take a gamble on.

That's interesting about the voltage coming in and out of the interface... You mean the little silver box???

All that thing is supposed to do is transmit data bits back and fourth between the head unit and the changer (kinda translates it into a language the other can understand), but I presume it's also supposed to supply 12v power.

Hope someone here can clear up that question. Would be worthless to buy another CD changer if that isn't the problem.

I also found very significant corrosion in two places. Certainly enough to affect those electronics.
I think I have a lead on another interface and hope that will solve the problem. I did find some specs on the changer which indicate the current draw but not the voltage requirement.

Thanks, Eric
