Default too much work

but i did just use a 3mm slice of a cigarette filter to make my keyfob accept a thinner battery from my switchblade key.

it is a visible light flashlight.

wonder how much the white LED cost back in 95

Default His is right around there.

I just talked to him, and it is a 121XXX VIN, but he doesn't have the last 3 digits with him at work. He's stuck with the 911 today.

Default That is really odd, Rich.

That car should be a 1995.5 car with RF remotes and new style keys. Where is the cigarette lighter located; dash or console by the e brake? Is he the original owner, or is it possible the car was rekeyed?

Default Second owner.

But I think he knew the first owner. It never had a keyless entry system. Has all the other .5 things, EDL, wide stereo, low-mounted lighter, etc.

His theory is that Hanz&Franz started assembly of the .5 cars before the RF system was ready. The car was intended as a 96 model, but then rushed into production trying to get them all imported before the OBDII laws went into effect.

Default Pardon me for beating this to death, but...

I have never heard of such a thing. Is he sure it doesn't have the RF? Could be there, just needs remotes.

Default Actually happened a lot.

The first of the 95 S6s still had the 16x8 5 spoke wheels and the 4 spoke steering wheel. My old sedan, for example. I don't know if they had left over of the old wheels or if the new ones weren't available yet. But it's pretty clear that sharp deliniation of the model years wasn't a concern. They phased things in and out.

Default It is easy to rationalize the S6's with the older wheel, both rims and steering, but...

... not one that came with out an option, such as RKE.

Default True on the "phase in"

But Audi never produced an S6 without any wheels or steering wheel. I think your friend has RF and is not aware of it.

Default Apology not needed.

There are plenty on ebay. I'll find another soon, or just bite the bullet and get one at the dealer.

When you program it, persistence pays. If it doesn't work at first, stick with it. I had a hard time programming mine, even with a new one from the dealer. They actually ordered a few before I got one to work. If you have more than one, program them all at the same time. Program them in the order that you want them associated with the power seats (first one will be "attached" to seat memory one, etc.)

Above all, be careful not to program one to work with two cars (don't ask how I know that this is a bad idea).
