Default T'aint nothing wrong with doing something like that, just beware that catching up on maint..

can be a pricey experience (as I'm sure you already know). But, that being said, if you have the car checked out by a UrS person in the know, realize that ****e happens and have backup transport, go fer it!

Brakes and windshield.....just be aware that with 190k miles stuff is going to keep popping up that can nikel and dime you to death (which is why the guy is selling it).

Default Sure

I'm available after work today to look at the car. Any time from 5:30, or so, on. Shoot me an email.

My review is posted above.

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4s6/msgs/221694.phtml</a

Default At $3k, hit!

If you can do the brake work yourself, you'll be doing OK.

Parted, that car might actually be worth more than $3k.

Default Skip, but I'm not in the market for another car

Looked at it last night. It's an early 95 with locking rear diff and cigarette lighter next to the radio, IR locks, but solid headrests, avus wheels, and three spoke steering wheel. It's probably worth 3k in parts, but it's a pretty rough car.

The bad:

-Front bumper is pretty cracked up.
-Passenger front fender is dented on the flare.
-All lower door moldings are gone, and the lower parts of the doors are starting to rust.
-Rack is leaking from the pressed in plug on the driver's side. Owner adds pentosin "every couple months."
-Engine bay is FILTHY
-VC gasket leaking, entire back of engine grimy with oil.
-Lots of paint scuffs
-Driver seat bolsters are crushed, although the leather isn't torn
-Engine stumbles every 30 seconds or so at idle
-Brake light constantly on (bad bomb?)
-No brake pressure until pedal is ~60% depressed, then pretty hard
-Rear guide pins siezed
-Front tires need to be replaced due to bubbles in the sidewall. 225/50/16 proxes 4. Rear tires are fine.
-Passenger inner cv boot torn

The good:
-New plug connectors and plugs (didn't check to see if they were F5DPOR)
-New PS pump and a couple of lines
-Steering wheel was in good shape
-AC works
-Newer drilled/slotted rotors
-It's not green/ecru
-It's inexpensive (owner said he'd take 2800)

I didn't drive the car, because the owner isn't confident of the brakes. Forgot to check rack mounting points for cracks, and I also forgot to check to make sure the horn works. I also don't know whether there's the dreaded whine in first gear.

If I missed anything, or if there are questions, post them up, I may be able to answer. Otherwise, Peter (a_cq) and I both looked at the car last night, I'm sure he'll post something up on his impressions.
