Default Just ordered my 1.8T coil stuff. Couple of questions for Dave.

I just replaced a bad coil a month ago. Now I still have a misfire so here we go. There were two things in the parts list that I wanted to clarify: two of the connectors you said you would source the pins instead of using the ones that came with the connectors so you wouldn't need to solder or crimp. Am I understanding this correctly and did you ever source them or know what will fit? Also, did you ever find a connector to replace the Jetta O2 sensor connector. My total from the dealer was $350. I could have bought the coils for less but for convenience....

Default You got ripped. Coil packs should have been about US$25 each. (I paid CDN$30). The special...

connectors were about US$8 each. The pins (with pigtails) were 2 per pigtail for about $4 each ($2 per pin). I didn't source the individual pins (from Eagle something) yet - they were MORE expensive.

I haven't looked for a replacement for the three pin early 90's Jetta 02 sensor connectors. They work and you should be able to get them for almost nothing from dead 02 sensors.

HTH

So how can you get to $350 if the coil packs only cost you $30 each? Something is wrong.

Default Beats me. I just ordered the parts on the parts list. I'll check the invoice when I pick it up.

I can't imagine the parts guy at the dealer would make a mistake <<<sarcasm. But seriously, even though I think all the parts add up I can't imagine there would be such a discrepency in price between you and me. I doubt one dealer is much more expensive than another. I'll let you know when I go on Mon.

Default Your parts list (with $30 coils) plus tax comes to $275 plus the VW tail light connectors. Still off

by about $50

Default The Jetta taillight connectors are intended to be scrounged from a wrecker. Likewise the 02 ...

connectors. I didn't intend that you buy new O2 sensors just to get the connectors. Tell me you didn't.

Default No i didn't buy O2's. Problem is most salvage yards around here

don't let you scrounge. You tell them what they want and they pull it. Maybe they got tired of people stealing or it is a liability issue.

Default Too bad. But now I am REALLY confused how you can get from $150 to $350 with the non-

coil pack parts. ???
