Dupli-Color, OEM Black Trim Paint. Looks very nice now but I just dont think it will hold...

Default I've painted my surround 2 or 3 times now

currently it's wearing a light mist of flat-finish rubberized undercoating. seems to be the only thing that will hold up to NE salt blasting, although i'm a little worried about it fading this summer.
rest of the car's nose is wrapped in 3M, which is worth every penny.

Default At this point nothing you do will matter that much. The secret to paint is in the prep

If the surface was clean and stripped of any wax it should hold up well. The best would be to sand it lightly then wipe it with alcohol to remove any dust, other solvents or wax then paint.

Default That's the paint I used too. I was very impressed on how it flowed and such, but..

I drove the car about 15 miles and the chrome bits have chipped already in very small areas. I sanded them and did the whole treatment, but it will always pull off at some point. It would be neat to get ahold of a pre plastic chromed set of bits and shoot them with PPG or something, that would likely hold up a bit longer.. ;-)

Default Did you know you can edit the subject line to create a short response?

Or start a longer one? Repeating the previous subject line is BORING. Try editing. You'll like it.
