QUATTRO DIF LOCKS versus 95.5 EDL
Im just wondering if the AWD diff locking system on all Quattro after 95.5 can unlock and relock into a drive system such as early quattro, can the system be unlocked and locked somehow ..... without the rear wheels losing power, if the question is too vague i will gladly restate and reform the wording ?

AFAIK 95.5 EDL = electronic spinning wheel braking and has nothing to do with the rear diff.

Ok so i am a amateur with AUDI tech info, but why do the rear wheels lock up and if this happens on all Quattros after 95.5 .... then why call them quattro ?

Awsome and thanku for the info, so im gonna ask another question now ..... if the system stays active when over 50km/h then in your opinion is the quattro IV better than the manual locking torsen diffs of the 80's and early 90's ?

My thoughts...
EDL has plusses and minuses.
For the average person, it's an improvement. The locking diff is an open diff until you take action and lock it, where EDL is active all the time, so it works with no user involvement. For hard core quattro users in extremely low traction situations, the locking diff is better.
When Audi started using 4 channel ABS, it became possible to utilize the ABS system to control wheel spin. To better serve the majority of drivers in the most common situations, EDL was adopted. EDL is also probably cheaper.
EDL is quattro. Quattro can mean anything that Audi wants it to.
For the enthusiast, EDL is a step back. Many 95.5 owners have swapped out their rear diffs with V8 torsen diffs.
