Rear fog light
I was lookng at the new S4 specs because i wanted to see what kind of headlight it used. And it says that there is a rear fog light but only on one side, and i was testing mine before the car went into the shop and i only saw it come on one side, i thought a bulb was burned out, do we only have 1 rear fog light?

yup, just the one, however you can have two! I do, but never really use em
need to pull the left tail light assemblie from another S4/6/A6/100 and maybe others, you just need the foglight connector it will snap right into your pass. side tail light like its meant to be there, then wire it into the other fog light wiring, good to go

Yes and No. We only have one "official" rear fog light - on the left side. However,....

where a right side one would be has a blanking plate (formed in plastic). If you pop that out and buy another fog lamp holder, all sort of possibilities open up. Twin 15 watt fog lights (extend the wiring to the new right hand side lamp holder) OR you can do what I did: I created a Frankenbulb holder with Nissan 2 filament lamp holders and the Audi Fog light holder. Now I run 5w/15w bulbs in both the "fog" lights with the 5 watt adding to the running light power. The 15 watt filaments are wired to their respective signal lights. (I disabled the fog lights). I have been running like this (see the photo) for 6 years waiting for an electronic genius to help me finish this project - I want to have a priority driver for the 15 w filaments with signals from the fog lights, the brake lights and the signal lights.
Not critical. I just like the extra light at the back. If I want to warn somebody in the fog, I just turn on the flashers. That gives me 60 W flashing plus 30 W ambient.

One. Because...
you want to let others know that you are there in the fog, but you don't want to confuse them - two lights might be mistaken for brake lights. Here in the US, it is not uncommon for euro car drivers to be pulled over by some hick cop for having a light out - "Um, no, Officer, it's supposed to be like that". Others have hacked two lights - not a good idea IMHO.

exactly...
I turned mine on at one time not because it was foggy but to warn the car who was tailgating. I then forgot to turn it off and next thing i knew, i was being pulled over for a busted taillight. And that's the exact reasoning/argument i went through with the cop. He gave me a warning but "officer it really is a fog light and ...."
