Rough Idle with A/C on.

Rough Idle with A/C on.
Now when the car is at idle it idles kinda rough as it is. But when i turn the a/c on it gets a lot worse. The RPMs drop to around 600 and then they jump to about 1200. It does this every couple of seconds and only at idle. What are the most likely possibilities that could be causing this? I did STFA but i dont have a lot of time to spare and read evrything. I lve in Vegas, and driving with no a/c when it's 95 outside sucks.

That's standard S4 stuff...
The AC compressor puts a lot of load on the engine and it will shake a little or emulate a rough idle. How is your car in the Las Vegas heat?
Around here mid-summer, even with the AC on full blast... On a warm day I can't keep cool in this car.
As I've told people before... this is why my car goes into storage from July 1 - October 1.

It does ok...
It hasn't over heated or anything. The engine stays around the same temp. all the time. it only heats up a little in traffic, but i expect that. I'm driving to Lake Havasu over the weekend. It's suposed to be around 110 the whole way. Hopefully i don't have cooling issues then. I haven't had the A/C on long enough to cool the car entirely.
