Default OBD11 - Homelink range?

Is there any way to increase the range of the homelink transmitter with OBD11? My FOB remote has great range, which tells me its not the receiver, but with homelink it only works when I am right up against the door.

I do not know the answer to your question regarding OBD11. In both my vehicles the HomeLink works from at least 20 yards away as the vehicle approaches the driveway and garage from the street. As a first step I would try reprogramming your vehicle with the garage door remote.

Do you LED light bulb(s) in the garage door opener?

"LED lights can cause issues with garage door openers when they operate on the same frequency. Because most garage door openers operate between 288 to 360 megahertz (MHz), purchasing LED lights that operate on a higher frequency can help to reduce this issue."

We have a gate. No bulbs. Have programmed it several times. No change.

I don't think you can increase the Homelink signal strength. It is true that in module 09 there is an item in the adaptations: increase transmission power, but for me the change to "active" did not make a difference. The only thing I could change in the adaptations is the distance from the gate at which Homelink appears on the MMI screen when coupled with GPS (distance from target).
I have the same problem, the operating range depends on the type of the garage door receiver and its insulation (metal door).
At one gate, the Homelink works in my car from a distance of 50 meters, and at the other, only 5 meters.
You can experiment with Homelink setup with ODBEleven: Module 09, adaptations. It looks like this:
Garage_door_opener_increase_of_transmission_power: _not active
Garage_door_opener_number_of_channels: _Three_channels
Garage_door_opener_distance_from_target: 50 _m
