He's right. Do what you love. Then when the money comes you can enjoy it. You might find that the R8

is not actually what you want at that point.

Well not necessarily lol...

I always kinda had the Peter Lynch beliefs, combined with the idea that certain key industries or niches BENEFIT from recessions. Those being:
Cheap amusement parks (Six Flags maybe)
Thrift stores/ RiteAid kinda places
Grocery chains
Movie studios (uh.. once said strike is over)
*But that's just my thought, and look at me lol...

I feel for you, as I had also headed to LA after college to work in the biz. I worked at a talent agency for two years, until I was fed up with the really long hours, meager pay and enormous attitudes and egos. Plus I looked at the guys higher up the food chain, and didn't like what I saw. So, I soul searched, and changed industries, and cities, and am happy I did.

and as someone who has done both you would know. However, short term, finance would be potentially more difficult to get into over advertising (he has worked in production before)and there is the lack of a concept of "family time" in finance. In order to get ahead and make some serious cash you need to invest 200% of yourself to finance, as you well know!

What do you do now?

Yeah it's tough man. Def worth getting a higher degree I think, but with the economy how it is, it's the short-term that's more problematic.
I got a callback for the VoD management thing, so I'll cross my fingers before I go to that....

The med school route may still work for some, but it is not a very good way to get a car like this. If you are smart enough to get into medical school, there are much more financially productive things you could do during the 7-12 years most spend in medical training (after college). Once finished, most have six figure debts and face a future of declining revenue - not a good start. In most specialties it is rare to ever reach a point where you can comfortably buy a car like this. Most of those that do, sacrifice a reasonable lifestyle to get there.

I could go on, but the bottom line is that getting a nice car is a terrible reason to go to medical school.
