Default amp question... if i bought a 4-channel amp for one set of components and a DVC sub...

can i use one channel for one component, one channel for the other component, and send one of each of the remaining channels to both of the VC on the sub?

heres what im thinking...

chan 1- speaker in door
chan 2- speaker in door
chan 3- first VC of sub
chan 4- second VC of sub

heres a sub with 2 VC's...

i know most people say that the sub should get more power than the compontents simply because of its size... if this is even possible, is it a good idea?
sorry im no audio junkie, and i apologize if i sound like a rambling idiot... :\

Default Yes, you can...

Depending on the impedance of the voice coils, you should bridge the amp mono on the back half and then wire the amp in series or parallel, depending. I could explain what all this means... but it's in the manual.

Default ty! any opinions on the JL audio 300/4 channel amp?

you obviously know the components i would be using (thanks again btw!), and the sub would be an 12" MTX thunder DVC (1000W or something similar)... sound like a good idea? ive heard that the JL amps are great but can be a little pricey, so if you know anything comparable for less im open to suggestions. TIA

Default Great build quality, iffy sound quality compared to the field

I replaced a JL 300/4, which was running a set of 6.5s and tweeters and a single 10" woofer, with a DLS CA41.

Better sound, smoother highs, better dynamics.

And it's a cheaper amp.

I'd suggest looking at DLS, audison, Zapco, even Boston Acoustics.

Default from what I've seen, if you are going to power a 1000watt sub AND components...

I would think about getting a amp for each... just me though...
