Default aux in and amp

Hey, I'm new with these forums so please excuse me if I am asking a question that has already been asked. I have a '01 A4 1.8t that doesn't have a 6disc installed. It has the wiring to the trunk for the 6 disc and I was wondering if it was possible to cut that wire open and steal some power for my amp. Also I want to be able to take the aux in that is normally used for the changer and wire my aux in cable so I can wire my laptop. It seems like it is doable to me, I just want to get a little heads up before I go cutting off the adapter and hooking up wires in my trunk.

Default What is the amp driving. If it's something like a sub, then I wouldn't do it.

There is a reason that those amps need thick wire for power.

Default Re: aux in and amp

Ok, I can run the power cables from the batter since I have a switch. Id rather not. So if someone has another answer solution, that would be awesome. My main problem is aux in line. I figure if I want to try to use aux in through the disk changer I'm going to need something that says that the changer is powered. I really don't want to change my head unit or modulate it through my radio. I want quality sound. Someone must be able to figure this out. HELP!!!
