Auxiliary Input to the CD Changer-equipped Audi's - Redux
This modification will work on all Audi's with the 13-pin DIN CD Changer and related cable.
I have been continually updating this and re-doing this.
A recent inquiry here to the Bipes Electronic Bench has caused me to take a harder look at this.
With the use of XM-Sirrus radios, the Apple iPod and other MP3 devices, I have resurrected this once again.
The idea is to provide a 'plug-and-play' auxiliary input to the OEM Bose system in the TT and other Audi's.
Unplug the connector at the CD changer, plug my adapter into the changer, and the cable in the trunk, into my adapter.
Run the input and switch cables into the cabin.
Plug in you MP3, XM unit, and run it.
It can be adapted to use RCA inputs, as well as a mini-stereo plug or jack.
I have found a source for the difficult-to-find 13-pin DIN connectors.
This is the heart of this system.
These are the costliest parts also.
Check out the link provided and email me for more details, or to discuss this more.

I'm in the process of securing all the parts. I expect the cost to be around $100.
I will keep you posted. I have made a prototype.
I will be making a few more when I have all the parts.

Maybe, but it's not available yet. Because of the sourcing for the parts....
and the fact that I hand-make these, this is the price I feel is necessary for this.
The Blitzsafe product, AFAIK, does not come with the extra cable that I provide.
It's your choice, but I will have a product in a few weeks.
Blitz has been promsing this for over a year, the one that you can use *with* the CD Changer.
They do have one that provide the Aux. IN *without* the CD changer.
I use that one, and it's $69.95.

13 pin DIN and jack is about $8, $10 with shipping...
What is your box beyond those with some sort of a switched relay?
I was going to build my own this weekend, but if you've figured out a more elegant solution, I may just wait and buy one from you

Well, that's basically it, yes. I'm packaging this all up, with cables and a switch box...
I'm responding to those that *can't* do this themselves.
If you have the expertise and access to the parts, you can do this as well.
I have about 20 people that want me to build these, and sourcing *all* those parts requires a significant out-lay of cash up front.
I'm building these by hand, and to specific requests for cable and connectors, so I can't get them made by any off-shore source, for example.
I have told many people that they can get the parts and build this, even giving them detailed instructions.
I make no claims that I have the only solution, just one that's avaliable.
