email and text alerts don't work while connected via bluetooth
My wife recently purchased a 2015 Q7 S-Line, she connected her phone via the bluetooth option and since connecting her phone her alerts for her text messages and email no longer sound on her phone nor through the speakers in her car. Is there some sort of option on the radio or her phone that anyone knows of that can solve this issue? Thank you in advance.

Tell your wife she's supposed to pay attention to the task of driving not to incoming text and email messages. I'm only half kidding.
Anyway, here's the technical explanation. When the phone is connected to Bluetooth, alerts are played over Bluetooth Audio Streaming. In order to hear them on the cars speakers, the MMI has to be in Media with Bluetooth selected as the source. In order to hear alerts on the phone's speakers you have to turn off the Bluetooth Media Player in the MMI's Bluetooth settings, then the Bluetooth connection is only used for phone calls and music, alerts etc. play over the phone's speakers, but that also means you can't stream Pandora etc. from the phone to the car's speakers.
