Hard wire GPS using the cig lighter kit from Shack, should I add fuse?
Going to hard wire (sorta) my Garmin Nuvi 660. The cig lighter cable has the fm tuner and traffic tuner build in so I need to use it. Going to buy the add on cig lighter adapter kit from Radio Shack.
They had two, one with exposed wires (and I think a fuse) and another one that attaches to the battery with big clips. The one with exposed wires turned me off because the connectors are exposed and could easily be bent. Bought the battery one and was going to just cut off clips. Should I add a fuse to the power line from the cig adapter to fuse box? If so what type and amps?
Thanks!!

I don't understand what cold side of the fuse means?
I just hardwired my V1 using the V1 hardwire kit. I attached the clip they sell for the fuse to a random side of the fuse then massaged it back into its spot, should I have used a certain side?
Or are you talking about adding the fuse to the cig adapter kit power line just like the V1 has?
Thanks
