Has anyone hardwired thier Escort 8500?

do you have to buy the seperate kit with it for 30 dollars? also, could you give me some directions. thanks!

I hardwired mine. You just need to buy the $10 direct wire cord (I got mine from escort when I ordered the detector) and you're good to go. I mounted mine sort of behind the rear view mirror on the passenger side so that the display is just visible under the rear view mirror. As for running the cord to the fuse box I just followed the directions from the faq in the tech section about hardwiring a v1. It took all of 10 minutes. Good luck.
