Default Navigation Plus for B5?

Does anyone know if it's possible to retrofit the new (North America specific) Audi Navigation Plus sytem into a B5 and, if so, what it might cost?

Thanks,

DD

Yes you can, but it will cost a lot. If you want a navigation system, get an aftermarket unit. They are a lot easier and cheaper to put in. Also with an aftermarket unit, you get advantages such as updates that you can download off the internet, millions of points of interest, and often touch-screen ability. Plan on spending around, $1000.

Unfortunately, I don't like personally care for the looks of the aftermarket ones I've seen, as they seem to have a color mismatch The ones I recall seeing were all a gunmetal color that didn't seem to match.

Is there an aftermarket unit that blends better than others?

Is that the European version?

Default Yes

But it's valid for the US unit too. The Euro unit is just a lot cheaper to start testing with and it works quite well.

Default Re: Yes

What are the pros and cons of the European vs. North American models?

And aren't the radio frequencies for FM different?

Thanks,

DD

Default Can I use this in my audi?

It's a 99 converted to a 2000 double din console.
The only thing is my gauges don't have the trip computer.. is this a problem?

If anyone knows if this is somewhat of a pnp for the car, I would definately be interested.

Thanks,
Eddie

Default EU vs. US unit

EU (when used in the US):
- Needs modified map DVD (requires modifying 2.8GB large files)
- Does not support AM or XM/Sirius, FM is fine
- Some minor issue displaying toll roads or very, very small streets (don't show up on the map but are used for navigation)
- Does support video in via 3rd party adapter

US unit:
- Has not been confirmed to support any kind of video in
- Supports AM and XM/Sirius but requires newest sat receiver
- Expensive

Default I doubt it...

Your Audi does not have the required CAN-BUS. The RNS-E gets several signal over CAN (Light, Ignition, Speed). Even with the facelift B5 some of the signals aren't available. An aftermarket system might be the better option here.
