Ripping Bose out of a B5
I searched the forums... Maybe I'm just not searching well... But, has anyone ever ripped the whole Bose POS out of a B5? Anything I should know? Any pics? I want to take out everything, but I'm looking specifically on the amp removal. Thanks!
BTW, I drive a 2000 A4.

Re: Ripping it out is easy but what are you looking to replace it with?
Kenwood Excelon headunit, Alpine 4" in each of the doors, probably Audiobahn 6.5" in the rear deck, plus two Pioneer 6"x9"s dropped in the space between... Dual Audiobahn 12" subs in a bandpass. I'll have an Audiobahn 6004T power the 6"x9"s and the 6.5"s and an Audiobahn 8002T power the two subs. I'll let the headunit power the door speakers. I think I've got it all set... I just want to make sure I don't rip something out of my car that makes it tick. :P I don't even know where the freakin' amp is.

You'd be better off amping the fronts and losing the 6x9's or the rear deck speakers

The Bose amp is in the boot, as shown in the pic.

Ah...
Thanks!
See, the thing is, I already have half of the stuff from the system in my old car. And I already dropped the 6x9s, which actually went quite well.
But, have you dropped 5.25" in the doors? Do you need brackets? And how tight a squeeze is it? If I were to get 5.25", I'd still probably power them with the headunit.

Yep I've got 5.25" Rainbow 230slx's in the front, it is a squeeze though
and you do need fitting adapters, but you'd need them anyway even with 4" units as the mounting posts sit proud of the hole in the door card.
