Default Front Bumper Question

hi all. sorry if this topic is in the wrong place but i am new to this forum.

i bought a 97 A4 about six months ago and it looks pretty good except for a large crack in the front bumper on the driver side. whatever the previous owner hit, it popped the washer cover cap off and damaged the sprayer so that now it leaks from underneath the crack whenever i use the windshield wiper switch.

the oil cooler turned out to be bad right after i bought it and the control rods need replacing which will almost leave me broke so i am looking to pay the bare minimum to make the bumper look decent.

the cheapest stock bumpers i have found are $250-$300 and in good to poor condition. i saw a bunch of sites that sell "Duraflex" bumpers for much less but in the pictures they look like they would lower my ground clearance and i like it where it is.

i have seen Hondas that have black polyester covers on their front bumpers. sort of like the kind that you would use to cover up your barbeque grill. that seems like it would be the perfect solution. does anyone know if those type of covers are made for Audis?

thanks

I can tell you this much, and I'm not trying to come off sounding like a jerk but a tight bugdet and "look decent". I would save your money until you can buy a reconditioned OE bumper, and afford a decent refinish and install job, so that the paint doesn't flake off while you are driving.

This is what my first sentence SHOULD have said:

its cool, you don't sound like a jerk. thanks for your opinion. i have decided to just let the car sit for a while. my insurance expired yesterday and i'm not going to renew it at least until i can afford to have the control rods replaced. the shop that replaced the oil cooler said it would be about $1000 and it wouldn't pass inspection without the repair. no sense in worrying about the bumper before the car is safe and reliable.

the cover i was referring to is called a bra. strange name but whatever, that's why i had trouble searching for them before.
