Default OK, just got back from shopping for detailing products--this is what I picked up...

Had the day off today and was bored so I went out shopping for the spring detail i'm going to do either this weekend or the next. This is what I picked up...

1. Stopped off at Costco and got an 160 ounce jug of Meguiars Gold Class car wash = $7.99 (dirt cheap)

2. Next stop, Autozone and picked up Meguiars #7 Glaze and Meguiars #26 Yellow Wax (both $9.99 each)

3. This was the hardest to find...stopped off at Strauss auto stores and picked up a box of Mother's Clay bar kit ($12.99) which included the detailing spray and an 8 ounce bottle of cleaner wax.

I couldnt find the Magic Clay bar anywhere so I just settled for the Mother's brand--hopefully it'll work out fine.

Here's what I plan on doing...

Completely wash with Dawn
Completely dry vehicle off.
Clay completely
Complete wash using Gold Class
Completely dry vehicle
Meguiars # 7 Glaze
Meguiars # 26 Yellow Wax

Hopefully this will give me the ultimate shine and protection. Ughh, my car is begging to be detailed, we've had a rough winter here in the Northeast.

I'll definetly post pics when I'm completed..

Default If you were to number your steps, delete step 2. No need to dry before claying.

Also, since your car will be "clean" from the dawn wash, you can pretty much combine steps 3 and 4 by using a wash mitt loaded with Meg's GC as the clay lube -- just mix it at about 5x strength of usual. It will save some time. All that said, there isn't much need to wash the car with the different soaps. Megs will work fine by itself; the clay will strip everything for you (assuming you're doing a full-body clay).

And I hear you about the rough winter we've had up here in the Northeast/New England. Yo.

Default Standard drill, should be fine

you KNOW the car will look much, much better than before.

To me, the real deal-sealer is to do the tires and wheels properly. That's what really makes the car pop.
