Default Sorry, I'm not spending $11 in shipping for $54 worth of detailing products.

Went to properautocare and was going to order:
1 Menzerna Get Acquainted Kit 19.95
1 S100 Shine-enhancing Cleanser 8.95
1 Porter Cable 7424 Accessories: White Polishing Pad 9.95
1 Eimann Fabrik Clear Vision: Glass Cleaning Kit 14.95

Total: $53.80
I selected "ground" shipping, the cheapest.
Shipping charge: $10.95.
That's roughly 20% of the product cost.

I can't bring myself to submit to this. I just won't do it. I guess the Menzerna will have to wait until another day when I don't mind getting ripped off.

Default I don't blame you...

It's always important to shop around for anything on the internet. I'm sure there are other sites with more reasonable rates. Unfortunately it takes time to track them down. Perhaps autosupermart.com would be an alternative option?

Best of luck

Default Shipping charges are ridiculously high these days

Rick,

It is a difficult decision the retailer has to make when deciding whether to keep his item prices low or include shipping charges and soften the blow. It costs us an average of $5.25 to send a one pound jar of WheelWax domestically and it is only a $15 product. That is why retail at local stores is the answer. In order to acurately track shipments, Internet shippers are forced to pay the higer rates charged by FedEx and UPS.

I know this doesn't make it any better. Too bad too, the guys I know at properautocare are enthusiasts and would seem to be your kind of guys. They are probably not making any money on the shipping charges. I understand your position and feel the same pain when I order on line.

Default Yeah...I try to keep a running shopping list, and place bulk orders.

CMA is the worst of the lot when it comes to shipping prices. Griots isn't far behind. Car Care Specialties is king with flat $5 shipping rates, and no shipping on orders over $75.

You should try ordering from Canada. Friggin customs charges are murder! Works out to almost %40!

Default I know how you feel.

I ordered 4 pads and some Blitz and the shipping was $11. No way does it cost $11 to ship 4 foam pads and some wax. No local place carries quality pads though. Can't find Blitz locally either. I still had wax left, but I wanted to see the Blitz with my PC. I'll still try some of the 3M wax with the PC. Find someone else in your area who wants to order and do it that way.

What about carcareonline? Free shipping after $75. I'd toss on a couple things that you'll need just to get the free shipping.

Default The prices for their products are full retail or more.

I looked up some Meguire's and Mother's stuff. Sheesh...AutoZone, PepBoys, and Target is cheaper. Yes, I know they don't carry to real good stuff.

Default I know, I know....

Evetually I will probably swallow my principles and pay it. I was just in the wrong mood to do that yesterday. It really bugs me that S&H is used by many online retailers to disguise the true price of their products.
