Default Depends how much work you want to put into it......

Some would say the "best" approach is what's described in the FAQ on exhaust tip polishing (see link below). But that's a very time-consuming process, and involves a lot more work than I'm prepared to put into exhaust tips. For me, Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish 2 or 3 times a year does the trick, and it involves 10 minutes (or less) of work. You may be satisfied with the results too. Or maybe not. Try it and see. Btw, I bought the small size about 2 years ago, and I still have about 1/2 left (I use it only on exhaust tips)

If you haven't polished the tips before, the first time is the hardest.

Exhaust Tip Polishing FAQ

Default P21S Multi-surface Finish Restorer worked great on mine

Granted I wasn't too picky on it...
Over the ~1.5 yrs I've had my car, the exhaust tips had turned a bit dull, with a slightly yellowish hue. Squirted some of the P21S MSFR goop on a rag, buffed one tip at a time, and back to a nice shiny silver color. Worked on my friend's M5's exhaust tips too (his were really yellow/bronzy from the original silvery color)
