Default 2000 B5 S4 Temperature Sensor

Does anyone know where the oil temperature sensor is located on a 2000 B5 S4? I have the service manual and the dealer photograph but there is a plug in the place it is supposed to be. The dealer photo shows an optional plug at that same location so I assume it was just different for this particular model. It occasionally reads temperature and the gauge is good. I don't know where to look anymore. This is the only thing that doesn't work on my car and it's driving me crazy.

If anyone has any ideas let me know.

Thanks,

Dan

What a pain. I guess I will change it if the pan ever starts leaking.

Thanks

Ok now I am confused. I don't remember seeing any sort of sensor on the oil pan itself. I thought that square sensor was the pressure and level sensor. I will try and get some of the images about the specific parts next time I post. When I bought the sensor from Audi it was a threaded thimble sized sensor and it looked like it had a coaxial connection point.
