Going a little crazy lately. I don't believe that's enforceable with out of state plates.

Default newp.

In case you want to cite the specific law:

625 ILCS 5/12?503(a) is the prohibition on window tint, but paragraph (f)(2) of that section states that (a) does not apply to "those motor vehicles properly registered in another jurisdiction."

Default No, they're called "courtesy laws" where a car registered our of state is not required to meet the

laws of another state as long as it is not diemed to have been required to be registered in the state it's in (moved and never registered, etc). The above is hard to prove, obviosly.

If they could cite cars for this type of issue, all cars from other states would be forbidden to enter Cali due to the CARB laws there.

Fight it and it will likely result in the dismissal of the other citation(s), as the judge will find the cop pretty incompetent.

THe above citation of the law and section code as noted by Shon (mrs.911eric) is carried in my glove compartment and is handed out by Shaded Days in Lake Bluff (847-816-tint) with all out of state tint jobs. Call them for a copy, if you want.
