Default Florida member looking to relocate to Bolingbrook area....need your advice

Hey Guys,

My wife and I looking at moving to the Bolingbrook area from Orlando FL, and I could use some of your insight. What are some good areas/communities to look for housing? How high are property taxes in the area? I hear that the cost of living is high, but when I look at comparisons to Orlando, I don't see too much of a difference. What do you all like about living in the Chicago area? Is there anything else that you think might be helpful to know?

Any thoughts you might be willing to provide will be helpful. I have to admit that coming from Florida, the winters are a bit concerning. However, most things that I have read suggest that Chicago and the Bolingbrook area seem like a nice place to live. Thanks in advance for your help.

Michael

Default If it was me, and I had a choice, I would stay there :)

But, if you have to move here, get some snow tires!

Default I lived in Bolingbrook for over 20 years.

Like anywhere, there is good and no so good area. Property taxes have gone up there but no where as much as say Naperville. Any ideas of where you are looking?

Default If you have kids, make sure the place is zoned for Naperville school dist.

My buddy's wife teaches at a Bolingbrook middle school and she has resigned because the gang problems are out of control. There are six different gangs in the area and only one cop in the school.

Default Probably Bolingbrook, Naperville, or Plainfield

I am considering a finance management position with the healthcare system building a hospital there in Bolingbrook. My wife will probably work in Hinsdale, but unfortunately we cannot afford to live in that area. So, we are looking at the above areas.

Default You can try a bit western as well..

Oswego school district is very good, is growing like hell right now, many new developments torwards the South od Route 59, 83rd st south..on either side East or West.. that's a good area to live.

Of course Taxes can overwhelm (sp?) you a bit since everything is kinda new.. expect around $6K to $7K for a median $250K house (2000 to 2300 sq ft)

Through the 117th st. corridor, you'll be in Bollingbrook in no time
