what do y'all think about white cars?
i know what jeff will say right away
i've never really been a fan of white cars (pearl white's another story), but i found this car for sale:

and i gotta say that it looks pretty good. it has the mods, the miles, and the price i was after. the two major downsides are no leather (which i could get), and that damn white paint (i like black!!).
here's another white mk3 that i think looks pretty hot and i dunno, maybe i could rock a white car.

i was looking at a local car that was basically the same as the above one, just with leather, a jetta front end (which i prefer), and with the color i wanted

unfortunately, the owner told me this morning that he's no longer selling it because of personal issues.
where are the photoshop pros? any chance you could put these wheels on the white car that's for sale?

i can fly down to TN pretty cheap so i might check it out and see it in person. who knows if that'll change my mind. i have 2 months to find a car so the sooner the better. if you by chance find a black vr6 gti w/ under 75k mileage, lemme know!

heh, what will I say?
imo white looks great on some cars, and like crap on others. and yes, pearl metallic white is the holy grail of white paint - as long as you don't get in any accidents.
i hate to say it, but i prefer darker colors (esp. black) for the previous gen GTIs. $0.02

the LM's?
yeah, early vento front ends look killer on mk3's. even if i was able to buy the black gti with the jetta front end, i'd sell the lights and grille to buy european vento stuff instead.

Just an FYI as another price point in your VR6 GTI search.
In late 2000, I sold my six year old black '95 VR6 GTI with 126k miles, no mods, the psychedelic worms cloth seats, worn clutch, hatch rust and a disclosed oil leak for $5500. It sold quickly. That car held its value ridiculously well. Good luck and don't hesitate to open up a Bosch frequent rewards card.

well i'm giving myself a budget of $9k.
i would rather not spend more than that since this is supposed to be a 'cheap' daily driver, but yeah, i know what you mean. there's still such a varience in prices. some cars you'll see w/ over 100k and nearly stock for 10k, others you'll see like the one i posted.

i like the fact that both of the cars had 'good' mods...
suspension, exhaust, chip, intake, polished manifolds, upgraded rotors/pads, steering wheel, and poly mounts.
i don't really care about lights, tint, and small crap like that because i'd rather have the suspension/braking aspect on the car already.
