I'm told that the version of VB that we're on can't do that without major efforts. Hopefully that's something that will be available in the next version.

It's already being created for this page, I can think of a half dozen ways to put it on the forum list pages that wouldn't take more than 30 minutes to implement.

Here's the answer I got from IB:

vB can only allow this feature to occur in the thread but not at a higher level. Mike and team spent some time trying to build it in but unfortunately it’s part of the vb core that we shouldn’t tinker with.

The simplest way wouldn't change if boards are added or removed. It would entail adding an include on the list pages that is just a static version of the pull down on the lower level pages.

If you wanted to make it a little more fancy, a script could scrape the pulldown and update the include. You could even do it with AJAX if you want. And if you went that route, you could build it so that the user can choose what options they want in the pulldown.

Heck, you could even do with a frame that was atop and had the pulldown in it, or an iframe. Or you could create an overlapping div or iframe with the control in it.

Yes, those are super-basic hacks, but unfortunately vB is knowing for being very developer un-friendly. It's all a matter of if IB is interested in serving the site visitors or if they just want to shove the members here into the can that is vB.

So I just realized there's a pulldown at the bottom of the page - on every page except the main page - can we just get that moved to the top? I know vB is harder to work with, but in most forums that would just be a theme tweak.

I never saw that! Thanks...would be nice at the top of the page in forum view vs. thread view only.
