Default you can search the forums to find the answer but basically it

means if a pic can be published in maxim it's OK to post

Default thanks Paul....

but I don't (or more correctly, didn't as of the "penning" of this reply) know what the heck Maxim was or is. I decided to take your advice and do a forum search (even though a web search didn't yield me an answer). Here-in lies the problem with the old STFA bit...

I religiously (no offence to anyone) went through every result on a search of "Maxim Test". In result #24 I gleaned that Maxim is indeed a magazine. A dim light comes on in the dark recesses of my mind.. i recalled I had indeed seen a magazine of that name. I soldiered on, NOTHING telling me what the "maxim test" was in plain english.. until I hit #60 (https://forums.audiworld.com/other/msgs/303671.phtml). While result #60 didn't shed any further light, it under the thread New Guidelines for OT Forum (by JET). It was there that I finally made it to the Forum FAQ, where indeed it does explain the "maxim" test. 28 minutes to find the answer. Your reply in 13 minutes, WITHOUT spending the time searching for a simple answer. Therein lies the problem with STFA.. sometimes it will yield an answer, but more commonly, in my experience, it is an enormous waste of time.

A forum is for discourse of information and ideas. It has always been a sore point with me when I see the old "STFA" replies when someone asks a question. Whats the big deal to answer a question when it is posed ? Sometimes a brief answer (like yours)will satisfy, other times one might suggest searching the forum, for example, when a long winded reply (kinda like this one) is needed.

Note this rant isn't directed at you Paul, the STF bit just kinda pushed an old (like me) button Thanks again for your answer.

Best of the Season,

Earnie

P.S. What is the best chip ? (tongue firmly in cheek)

Basically, no bare crotch shots, no exposed nipples, no bare bottom shots, no "naughty bits" exposed.

If it wouldn't be suitable for publication in a Maxim or Sports Illustrated magazine photo shoot we don't allow it.

Default yet another example of ...

our (North American) societies skewed and flawed moral beliefs. I think this EVERY time I watch a movie on TBS. It's ok to see people murdered, tortured and brutalized. But to hear a swear word uttered.. well.. that would just blacken our souls. Same deal here.. a NIPPLE ? To quote Michael Palin (Monty Python)... run awayyyy.. run awayyyyy!

Incidentally, I was only asking what the Maxim Test was because I decided to read through the Feedback forum and saw it mentioned. Sad day when reading the Feedback forum is more entertaining than your "home" forum ... B5 S4 in my case.

Cheers, and thanks,

Earnie

Thems the breaks. Many people view Audiworld at work. The line has to be drawn somewhere.
