Default One concern about the new engine-oriented forums...

Since so many Audi engines are used in different models, there is of course going to people with different bodies on each engine forum (much like there were people with different engines on each body forum).

It is more complicated than that, since a particular engine may have significant specification differences when installed in different bodies (i.e., the S4 4.2 versus the A6 4.2 versus the A8 4.2).

Unfortunately, this gets quite confusing. I already frequent at least 4 different forums on a regular basis, and now I'll have at least one more to keep an eye on.

Is there anyway to customize the window that each of us see when we open up AW, so that all the posts from one or more of the forums we like to read appear on the page?

That would be ideal (for those of us that think we are going to "miss something"). Thanks!

Default For some groups it helps. For example, the I-5 owners can benefit from...

... a larger audience when dealing with engine issues. Also the 2.7T forum covers the S4 and A6, and the combined wisdom will be helpful. S4 owners are far more hands-on, and they have much more useful info on the engine. Great resource for us A6 2.7T weenies.

Default Good point, Potomac. My concern is too much slpintering of knowledge and input...

Inevitably, if there are too many forums to key an eye on, most of us will stop following at least some of the ones we usually do follow.

Then, when someone has a good question (the reason we are watching the forums in the first place), the people with the knowledge to answer their question are more likely to be off watching another forums.

I guess there is a poteltial upside, if you look at it as an upside -- some of the faster-moving forums will likely slow down -- thereby giving people more time to scan and reply to recent posts.

Default Sometimes there's just certain engine questions you need help with

And those forums will be a good spot to ask them. I agree it is hard to keep up with different forums, but it does keep things interesting.

IIRC we looked at customized views in the past, but I think it would be somewhat difficult given the way the database is organized. I shall enquire further.
