Default Time for a Fuels/Lube Oils Forum? I'm just sayin'.

There's a bit more popping these days with Bio Fuels, TDI swaps, FSI, all the various grades of Ethanol, alternative energies, fuel additives, Hybrids, etc. Also, it would be a place for motor oil info too. A lot of AudiWorld guys run UOAs on their used oil and could post them together in one place. There is even a decent photo thread of valvetrain cleanliness going right now on B5 Forum.

Most guys don't know about the new oem Dealer oils like SLX Pro, Long-Life III, and the 504/507 specs etc. There's a custom-made vegetable-based motor oil from RLI (renewable Lubes) developed with a Forum Member and a World-class Triboligist (Terry Dyson) "Double Super-Secret RS4 Racing Oil" made just for the crazy fuel dillution and fuel wash as FSI sprays right onto cyl walls. RS4 destroys VW 502 motor oil. It's very technical with a lot of lab work and would fit in on a tech-heavy place like AudiWorld. We have race teams right here on AW that could benefit from it.

"Functional Fluids" as a forum title could go a bit farther and get into linking up the good experience of the old schoolers using non- Pentosin PSFs, and even get into coolants too.

fwiw, other brand-specifc car forums have lube sections. An Audi branded forum definately needs and deserves it. FTR- the oil FAQs are outdated and suck, even mine. Lube is a changing science and needs a changing Forum.

My last idea was for a Body/Paint Forum and got shot down. I'm just sayin'.

Default otoh,*everybody*DIY oil changes, but w/o much background on it.Also, it's a commonality of all cars.

It's just one of those things where a little knowledge goes a long away. Pretty techy too. Again, other car brand forums have them.
