Important information about AutoX in Florida...
Two new bills were passed in the FL legislature regarding autocrossing. They go into effect October 1st.
Bills SB1738 and HB1225 state:
"A person may not drive any vehicle, including any motorcycle, in any race; speed competition or contest; drag racing or acceleration contest; test of physical endurance; exhibition of speed or acceleration; or for the purpose of making a speed record on any highway, roadway, or parking lot, and a person may not in any manner participate in, coordinate, facilitate, or collect monies at any location for any such race; ride as a passenger in; or purposefully cause the movement of traffic to slow or stop for any such race, competition, contest, test, or exhibition."

Unfortunately it will have an impact on autocrossing.....
It will require that autox events be held only at locations that are specific to racing and that they will not be allowed in parking lots that are at anytime open to the public. Also TSD rallies will be hit by the laws as well.

Actually - No it won't. <legalese inside>
This is an an amendment to 316.191 which is the statute for 'Racing on highways'. Section (4) of 316.191 states
"This section does not apply to licensed or duly authorized racetracks, drag strips, or other designated areas set aside by proper authorities for such purposes."
You have to clear autocrossing with your local City Council, or Sheriff's Office if you are not in an incorporated city. This sets the 'parking lot' aside for the use of a exhibit of speed event.
TSD Rallies will not be effected. They are not exhibits of speed, and it is very clear in event rules that it is NOT a race. TSD rallies are set forth to flow under the legal speed limits (well, on paper).
