Default I don't think 250lb/ft is going to even make the driveline sweat...

If I had a subi...I'd be worried. I know of all kinda of folk breaking diffs and x-fer cases in WRX's. Hell..there are a few GT28RS A4's on VWVortex who launch hard constantly w/no breakage. I have faith in Quattro.

Default Yeah, I don't really think "reaction time" can be classified as a skill like getting a car

around a road course in a decent time and in one piece.

Default Reaction time is a skill in any sport, you either have it or you dont.

You need skill in any type of racing and drag racing is WON at the light. If both cars run the same ET, the winner will be the one with the best reaction time.

Running around a road course is just running the same line over and over, with plenty of time to think about which marker to brake at and where to hit your apex.

I guess the pro drivers running the 1/4 mile in 3 seconds at over 300 mph(yes faster then any road course car in the world by about 100 mph) must not have any skill at all to hit a perfect .400 light in a single flash.

Default BTW are you saying that the reaction times needed on the road course

is not a skill? Because if you dont have that skill you end up hitting another car that comes out of nowhere instead of getting out of the way. What happens if something does not go right and you need to adjust quickly for it, does not take reaction time skills?

Funny thing is I only get this argument from people that dont have reaction time skills and cant cut a light at the drags even if their life depended on it.

"Running around a road course is just running the same line over and over, with plenty of time to think about which marker to brake at and where to hit your apex."

Please stop. You did well to support your argument at first, but now you're just sounding very very ignorant.

This is such an asinine argument to be having, lets just please stop before posts get deleted.

Default Some points....

First, STOP assuming we don't know what drag racing is. I've been to the Gator Nationals, I have friends that bracket race (Nova and a Vette, both 11-12sec cars). I understand dial-in, ET, RT, 60 foot...etc...etc... The assumption that, because we don't do it obviously means we don't know anything about it is assinine.

Second, if drag racing is as difficult as you say it is, why in the world would it be suggested to any novice (no offense Justin) to use it as a tool to mark performance upgrades? For no other reason than to help you determine if your car excellerates faster? (assuming you're lucky and/or consistant). If all he wants is numbers, run some data logs with a VAG and go to a dyno.

Third, I'm not going to argue whats worse for your car, I know what I've seen and the fact you haven't broken anything tells me a) your car is well sorted or b) you're extremelly lucky.

And one last zinger...drag racing is what road racers do between the corners

Default "Racing is what you do at the end of a straightaway."

I've always loved that saying...
