good experience with Geico, Cherner, and Enterprise
I was driving to work last Fri (10/5) when the car in front of me kicked up what looked to be a metal plate. It hit the front passenger side causing damage to the headlight, bumper, and fender. I filled out an online claim form with Geico that morning and here's how things went:
- got a call from Geico in the afternoon to go over the incident and setup an appointment. They informed me that they had partnerships with several repair shops in the area and I could bring my car in to have it inspected and repaired at one place. I setup an appointment for Tues (10/9) at Cherner on Rt 7 in Tysons. After the call I received emails confirming my appt. and a rental car from Enterprise.
- 9am on Tues I go to Cherner. I meet with a Geico rep for a few minutes, go over what happens next, and then go next door to Enterprise to get my rental. Whole thing takes about 15 mins
- 10:30am on Tues I get a call from Geico. They give me the details on the repair and tell me the car should be ready on Thurs (10/11).
- noon on Tues I get an email from Geico telling me the claim info has been updated. I can go to their website and see the pics they took as well as a report of the work involved
- Thurs. morning the car is done and I pick it up that afternoon
I was very impressed with how this whole process went. Geico seems to have this down to a science. Cherner did an excellent job with the repairs -- you can't tell the car was ever damaged. Enterprise, as always, was efficient and their employees were great to deal with. And I got my S4 back in less than a week.

First they said the GT3 was too expensive then later the next day I get the call
to say that after owning the GT3 for a few days they decided that they do not insure them in Maryland anymore and I have been using it at my own risk. Moved all my policies to State Farm after 18 years and not a single claim. No, nothing good to say. Did I mention they (SF) are significantly cheaper, $14 more a year for the GT3 then the S4 at Gieco.

Erie FTW!
So Geico is still the same shotty Company from 10-15 yrs ago then hum?
I personally been using Erie since I got out of school in 1995 and have been very happy with them. Back then as a 25 yr old single male w/ a moving violation just over 3 yrs prior, Erie flat out beat everyone's rate. Plus Consumer Report rated them within top 5 then on service (AARP was #1). I check again a few years ago and Erie was still up there on service ranking.

Geico got an 86 rating in CR in 3/06, Erie got an 87
State Farm got an 89. I had Allstate before Geico for about 15 years. No claims, no moving violations, and Geico still beat their rate and everybody else's. When I moved from CA to VA in '04 Allstate almost wasn't going to cover my '95 M3.

state farm was cheaper at the time so i switched.
Now i have state farm for my bike and Geico for my car. Geico's the cheapest for NJ...and still 2x than VA.
