Great idea VDOT...close a lane on the beltway during rush hour to do nothing...seriously awesome...
And then have STATE TROOPERS waste their time stopping people on the Van Dorn exit for using the shoulder so they don't cause more back up when they turn right on Van Dorn.
VA sucks...I don't know how people live in this god awful state...

Overall tax ranking....
1st place having the highest tax burden.. in 2008 Maryland is 4th at 10.8%. Virginia is 18th at 9.8%.

Dude, VDOT is the sorriest, worst, most horrible excuse of an organization. They categorically suck
and if I ever became an elected official in this state, the very first thing I would do is to fire every member of the VDOT staff. I'd also get rid of all their Chevy trucks and make them buy Ford trucks. 
Oh and Erich is totally right about the tax burden. The car tax really isn't all that bad. Granted, my newest vehicle is a 2004, but still. Also, car insurance here is way cheaper.
