There seem to be a couple nice places along Columbia Pike closer to the Pentagon, past Bob &
Edith's (yum). There are some nice townhouses that border the Army-Navy Country Club Golf Course.
It seems a little less gentrified in the on the other side of Walter Reed. I lived in the Fairlington/Shirlington area for about 3 years and really liked it.

I'm a few blocks West on Columbia Pike, after Glebe
Lived there for 4 years now. It is much better than it was. I personally have never had a problem. I do, however, have off-street parking which is a must.
