Audio Problem with Audi90 !

I own a 1991 Audi 90, and for some reason my rear left and front right speakers would occasionally go off by itself... I don't think the speakers are busted since when they come back they would sound perfect. I was told that there is a "Head unit" somewhere in the car which sort of acts like an amplifier... and I think this may be where the problem is... the only thing -- I don't know where this unit is located..! does anyone know or can anyone verify whether this is true? Thanks.

the head unit is the reciever, the same thing you use to change radio stations, turn the thing on, etc etc..

Im not sure about the older Audi 90's, but mine comes off with 4 screws, and then just pops on out... Now knowing which wire goes where is another story altogether..

The rear speaker have there own amps on the speaker themselves. The front ones do not. The headunit is the actual radio and it may be going bad or you have a loose wire.
