Speedometer/Odometer on '93 Audi 90 not working (more)
My daughter just got a used '93 Audi 90. There are no signs of life from the odometer and speedometer. Does this car use a speedometer cable? If not, I assume I'll have to replace the whole instrument cluster.
Any good sites for used parts for this car if I do need to replace the instrument cluster? Is this a hard job to do yourself?

I think it has an electronic one...
so no cable. If both are out I would be tempted to check the pickup, because the parts in the cluster are independent. I can tell you where the pickup is on a 5K, and chances are good it's in the same place, it's right in front and above the axle on the left side of the car on the transmission, it has a 3 terminal plug which sticks straight up, and tends to get real dirty. I had the same problem on my old 5K, and that was it. Good luck with it.

info...
Speedo sensor (electronic, no mechanical cable) sends signal to TCM (auto Transmission Control Module), which then processes the signal and sends it to the instrument cluster. Could be a wiring / connector contact problem in the chain, or the speedo instrument itself. Or, of course the speedo sensor, mounted to the transmission. See Shokan Audi, Shokan New York, 800 255 2834 for new and used Audi parts.
