Rolex 24 this weekend. Fugly compared to ALMS, but at least it's road racing sports cars.

Default he said in the postrace that they were already running less wing than the Brumos

(assuming he was being straight)
i guess the Porsche simply had the horses.

Default is there some 'grace area' in the rules that those 12# fits under, or just an official's decision?

what happens if the next 6 race winners all finish ~12# underweight?

Default Grand Am has a policy not to alter the the finishing results for post race tech infractions.

Fines and point penalties are applied, but the official results have never been altered in my experience with them. Last year in the Koni Challenge finale we finished 4th with our team car in 3rd and we were not at all amused to find out that the Mustangs who finished 1st and 2nd would not be dq'd after being found to have fuel cells 2 GALLONS over the maximum allowed capacity. The word on the Brumos car is that it burned off a significant amount of oil and coolant, which is partly responsible for the weight issue, although some would say the the car was actually quite a bit more than 12 lbs under what it should have been...

There is not specific "grace area" as far as these things go AFAIK, but there is some discretion used if a car finished slightly underweight but is missing bodywork that would make the difference. Our GT car finished without about a third of the rear bumper, no front splitter, and all but one underbody panel missing, and I am sure we would not have been penalized for being slightly underweight if the issue came up.
