Took the Miata to the Thunderhill Audi Club Driving Event this past weekend
It was in dire need of quattro..cause it rained most of the event. I did get in 1.5 runs in the dry..but it was only a taste. I let Corey, Sharon, MarkF, and GreggF also drive it...and also offered it to Mark Dadgar. Seems like I have decent power..just need to work out the kinks...(riding on the front bump stocks makes for quite a scary-jittery ride on the high speed sections). I ended up spinning out twice...another record for me...once getting on power too soon in a wet turn #2 exit...and the same at turn #9...modulate...modulate...modulate that throttle.
When is it gonna stop raining??? (argh)

I have heard that the 1.8 is for heavier weight people
I am 220 lbs...and I opted for the 1.6 with the open intake option. I have the Racing Beat intake and K&N cone filter. I have been told by some that I should be in a 1.8 (94-97) Miata. All of my close friends that are in Spec Miata's are buying the 1.6 90-93 cars.

Seems like a pricing issue?
That's my quandry. I can afford a 1.6, but I was wondering if the later cars had the better chassis reinforcement? I know that made a huge difference in the handling. Is it a bolt in or weld in cage requirement?

Steve & Corey, thanks for helping retrieve my rain tires
since they were definitely needed! I was very pleased NOT to spin in 11, my traditional place to apply too much power in the rain. While Young and Margaret nod their heads knowingly. :-)
