Default Tracking with Stoptech's.....

I have Stoptech brakes and I was at Road Atlanta this weekend. I was running cobalt friction gtr spec vr pads. After hard braking, when I let off of the pedal I was getting a groaning sound coming from the front brakes for a couple of seconds afterwards. It almost sounded like something was stuck. I drove home and everytime I hit the brakes moderately hard, after I let up the hole car would groan and kind of shudder. At home, I took the pads out and made sure everything was free and moving and it was. The sound then stopped and only came back a couple times over the next day. Now, it came back while braking today. What could this problem be? It only happens when I am off of the b rakes. Everyone I have talked to has no idea what it could be. Hoping some of you may. Thanks

Default No sliders on fixed calipers.

TrackJunkE, check your clearances between the rotor and caliper bracket. Something's rubbing, and it's not pads.

Default Check to make sure the pad abuttment plates are aligned correctly.

They should ensure that the pad backing plate is NOT hitting the hat. When the pads get worn down there can be interference fit issues with the backing plate and the hat - you've got to make sure that the abuttment plates (brass looking tabs that limit vertical and forward travel of the pad) are adjusted correctly.

Also - when you put the pads in make sure they aren't too tight (light hit with a rubber mallet = max pressure required to seat them). If they're too tight - grind off the paint on the top and bottom of the backing plate and put some silver anti-seize on them as well. You'll thank me when you go to swap back to your street pads.

BTW you aren't running those VRs on the street are you?

Hope this helps...
