damn you main st! argh!
wheel is gashed and the sidewall is torn pretty deep. just noticed before driving back to needham from cambridge. did I say argh? Argh.
now i have to decide to replace all 4 of them to match, or if I should just go get a single new. anyone have one michelin pilot sport, 235/40-18?
did I mention, argh?

sorry to hear it. same thing happened to my TT...
couple years ago i was cruising home over the N. washington bridge, and i nailed an exposed manhole. they were repaving the road. i saw it right before i hit it... there was nothing i could do. there was a car next to me and on my right was the curb. i had just put on a new set of polished OEM five spokes. BANG! i couldn't stop and look... think i'd probably started weeping in front of everyone. so, i cursed all the way home... when i got home it was as bad as i thought.. two huge chunks missing from the rims. i nailed both front and rear, and the tires were badly cut too... i was suprised they didn't blow. i figure i'd go back the next day and taake a ppicture. what do you know, the next day the entire area had been paved! i figured there was no point in going after the city... there never is, you can win.

Ongoing expenses....
We drive on +1,2 3, or even +4 wheel upgrades and low profile tires, so it happens. When I ordered my wheels (which had to have the lug holes filled and re-drilled for my car.....BIG $) I ordered 6. Usually one gets damaged each year, and I drive the car less than half of the year (good weather only).
So, my 6 wheels are in rotation. Once two are damaged they go to a wheel shop to be made like new. Luckily I've found a good wheel shop fairly nearby.
I'm not happy about the situation, but I either have to deal with it or drop back to smaller wheels (with more rubber).

ouch... yeah, I've been dodging all over the place when I have to drive on main st.
That's an expensive loss, sorry man... I go 5-10mph on Main St. now, and to hell with the horn-honking SUV behind me.
