Default Need help with a big decision - End of lease

Hey guys I really could use another opinion on this issue.

My lease comes to an end in March and the buyout is a bit more than I previously thought. In order to buy out my S4 avant I would have to put a significant chunk of change down as a down payment to make the monthly payments affordable. Now, I could trade it in as well and have to pay a mileage fee (around $3K). My car has 55K miles currently.

My options -
I have been looking at getting a very nicely cared for B5 S4 but I am leery of a few things namely turbo's and the fact that you step down a little bit in terms of interior refinement. It also has around 80K miles. So I could buy this car without dropping a huge down payment and drive it for a while. I wonder how much it would depreciate over a couple of years...

I could trade in my B6 S4 avant on another B6 S4 Imola Yellow that is up at Audi of Nashua right now with 31K miles for about the same price as the buyout on my car. I think I could talk them down a little. It is a sedan not an Avant and it doesnt have the carbon fiber interior like on my car which i really like. I would also switch over everything I have done to my car onto another B6 S4 (Exhaust, DP's, etc.)

Finally- I could buy my car outright, drop the down payment, and keep it. It seems to me that S4 Avants seem to be in demand as I always see people advertising that they want them and I never see other B6 Avants.

Ahh this is such a touch decision. I appreciate any response.

Default personally and coming from an avant owner I would keep the avant.

I think they look nicer than the sedans and are certainly more versitile.

Default More details? I assume the B5 is a sedan? 6spd, tip for all of them? Is this an issue for you? 80k

miles onthe b5 is actually about average to slightly below average for these cars now-adays.

You need to give all the details that are important to you, color, body type, transmission etc to fully help guide you on this. Need to know your priorities

They all seem like good options... some more expensive than others, but all three would be great cars.

In case it helps you at all, my priorities when looking for my car were:

1. B5 S4, Avant, 6spd (this is the base I started from... wasn't interested in any other car)
2. Price
3. Color
4. Interior Options

good luck.

Default Re: How about some buyout / payment info to consider.

I've never leased a vehicle, so can you help us out with some info like:

The orig price of the car. DId you negotiate that, or is it sticker?

Your payment & no., of months.

Your buyout figure.

Do you think you can privately sell it for more than your buy out?

The other car.
Cars from NH don't have a lemon law like MA.

That being said, you already know you cars history, and the other dealer lot vehicle may have an unknown history.

The versatility of the Avant may be important enough to sway your decision.

Default Sure...

The original price was $56K. I wont get into the payment as I got a pretty good deal on that. I am strictly focusing on the end product here- and 05 S4 avant with 55K miles.

The buyout on this is about $31K. I think if I sold this on my own I might get about this or a little less because of the demand for avants.

I think I ruled out the other B6 - it is either my avant or the other B5...

Default please do not pick another lease up

You will be in the same situation in 2-3 years. If you go for the other B6 S4 will you have to pay the mileage fee? If so then 31K is not 34K and then the money needed to swap your mods. I'm guessing that that B5 S4 will be about half of the other 2 cars so some of that money could be used to get knew turbos if they fail (or upgrade). Can you possibly find someone to buy out the car for you, since you say that many people are looking for avants. I would say keep your current car. You seem to like your interior and the fact that it is an avant.
